need to know everything but you need to be able to learn fast, be shown something once and pick

It's not all bad - becuase of the variety of our work and our clients you will be exposed to a lot
of technologies and paradigms. It can be very interesting and rewarding work and we always welcome

We will consider applications from new college graduates right through to experienced and proven
candidates. The typical area of skillsets we are interested in are (a candidate is not
required to have all of these):
- experience and an interest in Linux (a candidate should typically be running Linux as their own primary operating system;
- experience and an interest in FreeBSD or other *ix's is a bonus;
- experience and / or knowledge of typical services such as but not limited to: DNS, SMTP, POP3 / IMAP, HTTP (typically Apache), SSH, NFS, SNMP, etc;
- experience with MySQL and an understanding of indexes, query optimisation, secure web <--> database integration;
- experience with Asterisk and knowledge of VoIP protocols;
- many of our interfaces and project work are based on web applications using the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) and so a good all rounder in this area is always desired;
- following from the above, we also do a lot of scripting in PHP in general and as such PHP experience or the ability to pick it up fast is essential;
- a good understanding of basic networking principals including, for example, typically HTTP, POP3, SMTP sessions for debugging; TCP, UDP and ICMP protocols; IP addressing and routing;
- some candidates with advanced networking knowledge including BGP, OSPF, etc and experience with Cisco IOS, Juniper, Foundry, etc are often required.
